Please Help!

Having trouble with my new FTA Qsat 39"dish I purchased with a GT- LST40c standard ku-band single LNBF RF:11.7-12.75 GHZ with a Diseqc 1.2 motorized H-H motor moteck sg2100 using 100 ft rg6 cable from local walmart to a viewsat ultra receiver no switches with a boot loader of 0.12 Main s/w pftausw-090501u Satellite u007 H/W version vo.1 model name vs2000 ultra I have the dish approx 20 ft high, A short tower beside my garage after using 8 bags of concrete tower shows level all the way up with a bubble level I believe it to be as plumb as it gets turn on receiver motor works great east/west went to dish pointer.com for my true south calculations longitude -86.5254 degree latitude 41.6801 motor latitude 41.7 declination angle 6.5 dish elevation 24 degree azimuth 180.0 degree (true) azimuth 184.3 degree (magn)

With dish set at 180 degree true south I show antenna setup galaxy 10R 12.3w

Lnb on

Lnb type standard

Lnb freq 1075

22khz off

tp freq 11720

diseqC 1.0 none

motor usals this is where I place my longitude/latitude would my longitude be east or west?"????would my latitude be north or south?????? I set longitude east latitude to north dish pointer don’t have a north, south, east,or west on anything also my longitude is a negative -86.5254 is there a way to put a negative # in the usals menu

Legacy sw none

Any help would be great with the dish pointed (true)south I have a signal of 76 noQ when I goto limits east or west my S stays between 74-80 no Q at all in moving the declination angle slightly both ways cant get a Q hope I didn't leave anything out

you list Lnb freq 1075 it should be 10750, i'm sure this is just a typo.
now setting up azimuth use the one list as (true) to aim your dish at. the difference between the two is the degrees east or west to get on the arch
next i believe the negative number for longitude implies west and a positive would mean east, but i could be mistaken. i'm not near my receiver to check for you.

hope this helps

any bin will work for true fta, even the latest telephonica bin will work....the latest dated one is probably best, even a factory bin will work.
here's how to figure e/w longitude:
if you're west of London, you've a west longitude (if you're in the US, you're west).
no need to enter the minus sign, just enter west...
to figure n/s latitude:
if you are north of the equator then you're north latitude.

signal strength is not a big factor...what you are looking for is signal quality (Q)
if you are registering 0, then something is not right, you need about 65 to scan for channels.
how did you set the elevation and declination angle of your dish?
the sg2100 has good directions for setting elevation (angle on the motor)
but not very good for declination.
according to the manual, your elevation should be your latitude (this is entered on the scale on the side of the motor).
how did you set your declination angle?
This is how I do it:
once the dish is mounted and elevation angle set on the motor,
I put a straight edge across the dish from the top edge to the bottom edge.
then I put an angle finder on the straight edge and adjust to the proper angle...
try it, this is a common problem setting up a dish with a motor.

get back to us....
and good luck,
~Q
