you could sign up with your local cable if possible or do as eloans says to do. i know the local cable company here is doing a special right know no commitment plans starting as low as 13.00 per month. somewhere somehow we all got to pay right now, by buying equipment for true fta or signing up with a company that will provicde you the service you want

That's what I did. It is a little more costly than $13/month; and I only get about 60 channels; but for now, it is fine.

Yeah, right now pay service is about the only option open to most of us, I'm planning to go that route myself, of course I can't get cable where I live so I have to either go with DTV or DN, but I do what I got to do. You can find some sports channels on TRUE FTA, however, most are from other countries and unless you major in foreign languages, might not be the best choice. I only got my 30" dish and motor because I needed to get some Chinese channels, works fine for that purpose, but as far as american channels go, I pretty much searched all the available sats in the western hemisphere and found only about 3 that are watchable, depending on where you live, you might grab hold of a coulple of other sats that I'm unable to get, most american channels however are all scrambled and you can't pick them up on a VS box. Or you could just join the rest of us and wait.
