how to setup a static ip for iHub to use with your router

first thing you need to know is what addressses your router is using, this can probably be found in your router manual.mine allows me to enter the address and access the router thru the internet browser revealing all data needed.
Or if you are using Xp goto Start>My Network Places and right click on My Network Places then left click properties then left click Local Area Connection and then left click Support and it will reveal your local ip address and your local ip gateway and those are the numbers you need.

line 1-setting type-set to static

line 2-local ip-set to value higher than any number of devices connected thru router and hubs-example-you have five devices connected thru router/hub and they are set to DHCP,first device will be assigned 192.XXX.1.1
next devise will be 192.xxx.1.101,next would be 192.xxx.1.102 and so forth.so you want to set your address higher than any number of device connected so you could set it as 192.xxx.1.106 but go higher and set it for 192.xxx.1.120 (106 thru 199 could be valid addresses)

line 3-set port to 1920

line 4-subnet mask-set to 255.255.255.0 or what ever address your internet provider is using for the internet wan

line 5-gateway-192.xxx.1.1 this is the same number that your router uses for the local lan ip gateway and appears to match the first ip address supplied to the first devise

line 6-use DNS-yes

line 7-domain name-this will come up automaticly

line 8-dns ip-68.87.xxx.130,this number is one of two that your internet provider supplies

line 9-server port-1920

line 10-serial number-located on Ihub, letter are enter via dvr controls as indicated at bottom of screen

line 11-apply-hit ok on remote

you will see both green and amber lights on if adapter is connected correctly, you will see the amber light blink when transmitting or receiving data and you will see the light on your modem acknowledge the ihub and then you should see send/receive lights on modem blink, this occurs about every 20 seconds.

if all of the above has occurred and you have the svftaiks. as the Domain name you are most likely connecting to the server, but you must see the send/receive lights on the modem working or something is wrong.Try channel 342 or 302.

I am using a Dynex router and hub (do not confuse a router hub as the Ihub because it isn't an Ihub) got form bestbuy and the router and hub were cheap compared to the others available, router was 30 and hub was 20,most of the others cost more than that just for the router but the Dynex is working fine for me.The dynex hub is a switch so that you can add more devices to the router,I think you can have 254 or more computer's and devices connected to your router by adding hubs/switches.

you need to have the Ihub file loaded on your sv and under memu>sytem settings>(at the bottom of page)user options (again at bottom of page) chose "BOTH" and exit, you may need to setup Ihub or atleast have it connected before you can access this option, when you turn on receiver it will say network connected if it recognizes the Ihub,it happens fast so watch tv when turning on receiver...always turn off receiver when connecting/disconnecting anything other than USB devices..
