Does the SonicView **** require a RS232 Serial Data Cable?

Some of the dealers that sell the SonicView **** serial to ethernet connverter says that it requires a RS232 serial data cable and network cable is not included.

I emailed one place the sells the sonicview **** says that I do not need the RS232 serial data cable.

Anyone who has a ****, do I need a RS232 serial data cable?

I have a question about the network cable that is not included?

I am thinking of a HL105E Ethernet Powerline Adapter 85 Mbps(pair) for the ****.

I have have the SonicView 8000HD in one of the bedrooms with no internet access. I have the computer with the Linksys Router in the office.

Does any know is the Ethernet Powerline Adapter is compatable with the Linksys Router? With the Ethernet Powerline Adapter would use the electric wiring in the house to have internet connection in the bedroom where the SonicView is located.
Is this correct?

Does the Ethernet Powerline Adapter come with a Ethernet cable? Would I need Qty 2 Ethernet cables. One Ethernet cable would go to the Linksys Router to the Powerline adapter plug. Would I need to to purchase another Ethernet cabe for the **** that goes to the other Ethernet Powerline Adapter plug that plugs in the wall where the SonicView 8000HD is located?

Any one that has Ethernet Poweline Adapter, was is hard to hook up to the Linksys Router. Does the Ethernet Powerline Adapter come with a CD to configure it with the Linksys Router?

Is the network cable that is not included with the ****, the Ethernet cable?

Please explain what I need for the ****?

Thanks

Exclamation **** connection!!

First let me say that I am no guru when it comes to all of this but Iwill tell you what I think I know. 1st you do not need serial cable with ****, the **** has a serial coonection on one and ethernet conn. on the other end. In your case which is like mine my rec. is not close to pc so I have to use wireless router. 1 powerline adapter at your pc and 1 adapter at or very near your rec. If you have the router ir should work with the **** setup. You can purchase various lengths of ethernet cables. I do not know if length affects signal from router. So you do understand me ethernet cables are used from modem to adapter and from alternate adapter to **** which then plugs directly to serial port on back of rec. I hope this has helped some. You can get setup tutorial in sv tutorials section.

Good Luck!! Also I hope it has not confused you.

budawg What file did you install in the SonicView8000HD when you installed the ihup?

Thanks budawg for answering my questions. I think I understand how the **** works. The **** plugs back into the SonicView 8000HD (no serial data cable is needed).

I did some more research on the HL105E Ethernet Powerline Adapter 85 Mbps (pair) It should work with my Linksys Router that I have installed in the office.
The HL105E comes with 2 single HL105E Homeplug Powerline Adapter
2 Ethernet Cable
Utility CD

I would plug the homeplug powerline adapter in the wall(electric plug) where the Linksys Router and connect the Powerline adapter to the Router with the ethernet cable.

I would then install the other powerline adapter in the electric plug in the bedroom where I have the SonicView 8000HD. I would connect the **** to the powerline using the ethernet cable.

What file did you first installed in your SonicView 8000HD receiver when connecting the ****?

Did you first intall the jun 08 v458 or did you install the Jun 14 v453?
What is the SV hd8000 fix sats 20009 for? After I install one of the other files?

I have the Elliptical Dish pointed at only sat110. Would I get sat 119 if I get the ****? Or would I have to try to aim the dish so I can get sat 110 and 119 at one skew?

On your router and powerline adapter. With the utility cd that comes with the powerline adapter, was it hard to config the powerline to the Linksys Router?

Thank you budawg for you help. I understand how to connect the **** thanks to your help.

to answer this , all depends where your router is in relation to the svbox and tv.

my setup finally last week has been suscessfully working w/the **** been up since black thu.
hope this all helps?/

i have the **** pluged right io the stbs com port, then out to my router w/cat5.
if you need to add more cable to your router, then you might want to useia serial cable to strech the cable run to your router.then you can see the send & rx lights on the ****, depends on the installation ,thats
all , nothing special.if you WANT to use a serial cable, but be careful not to use the NULL cable that came w/ the sonicview rx when you first purchased it.things will not work.

purchase the **** here n2news,, great price, great tech support is here and this keeps this web site running

when you recieve your ****, just follow the instructions here, this is very easy in setting up , .

enjoy

June 25 v459 b207
June 24 Long Name 82 91 110 129 **** friendly
June Sv hd 8000 fix sats 2009

there are other files listed below

June 08 v458 b207

What file did you first intall on your **** for the SonicView 8000Hd receiver?

I am thinking of purchasing the **** next week and is wonding what file I should first install.

The **** is suppose to do automatic firmware upgrades.

Do you still have to manual be upgrades in your receiver or does it automatic does it with the ****?

How much freezing do you with the ****?

Does you electronic program guide work with the ****?

I have the Elliptical Dish pointed at only sat 110. Would I get sat 119 channels with the **** without aiming the Ellipitcal Dish?

this update just came out, but sorry to say this worked less than an hour then fizzeled out, found out that work is being done on the server so things are still down ,when things are up, i find bv3 has less digital drop offs then charlie has, i've been experimenting, turning autoroll on and off, i find with this off , things seems to work better.

New hd8000_25JUN2009_v459_b207

check and see if you loaded the latest fac. file for your unit, if not do this first .
if fact. this one
New Sonicview SV-8000 HD Factory File V443

if every thing was working before black thu. and nobody messed w/it, then yes the **** will work.

the manual for the **** , along w/ a short video, and current ch.list can be found in the totorials section .
good luck and have fun
