At least you asked first. I use Nortons and it is not free. It has worked for this neubie to computers. I found out later that you can get a free antivirus. They do work.

i uninstall norton antivirus as soon as i buy a new computer,it wouldnt be bad except it is always blocking things that it shouldnt be and way more complicated than it needs to be.i guess they have to justify the cost of it so they make it act like it is always doing something.and all it really does is slow my pc down

Norton antivirus is know good when it is installed it attaches its self to alot of programs and makes your computer run slower, i don`t use it or reommend it.

Avg

I, also have used several different one's and had paid for all of them, untill a friend recommended AVG(free) and it has been great. The worst was Norton and Shield Deluxe, they REEEEEAAAAALLY slowed down my computer. Several choices to choose from so good luck with your desicion.
