Question trying to load pantec receiver

I'm new to this site, so please bear with me and let me know if I'm posting in the right section. I have been working with 2 Pantec receivers for over 3 years now, and need to try to convert to PUFF. I am using a Dell Computer with Vista. Unfortunatly, this system does not use any serial ports and I had to purchase a serial to usb converter. Also, this receiver has never been converted to 2700. After connecting, I opened Blacklist 1.4 Updater and selected the Jvvh_Fortec-Pansat_CanAm_(Puff)_253_(640K) bin. After hitting download, I get the window saying that it's downloading, but nothing happens, i.e. no bars or %. I let it run for 15 minutes one time, changed serial cables and let it run for over 30 minutes with no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might wanna think about converting it to 2700 and then use that particular loader and bin to see if that would get you going. It never hurts to try bcz you can always go back to the original.

when you down load you must hit write bin just as you see the first lights on your receiver! then you will see % of down load! if not you might try the conversion all over again! i have not converted to "puff" yet ! but ithink it is a lot like b75! good luck! and happy testing!

One more thing that someone may be able to help me with. What should the the following settings be:
1) Bits per Second (currently 9600)
2) Data bits (currently 8)
3) Parity (currently none)
4) Stop bits (currently 1)
5) Flow control (currently 1)/

I don't know if this information will help anyone else. Thankyou for your time.
