Difference between TCP and UDP

Difference between TCP and UDP
TCP ("Transmission Control Protocol") is a connection-oriented protocol, which means that upon communication it requires handshaking to set up end-to-end connection. A connection can be made from client to server, and from then on any data can be sent along that connection.
very reliable and very traceable

UDP is a simpler message-based connectionless protocol. In connectionless protocols, there is no effort made to set up a dedicated end-to-end connection. Communication is achieved by transmitting information in one direction, from source to destination without checking to see if the destination is still there, or if it is prepared to receive the information
not as reliable but very effective - hard to trace

nFusion uses udp -

Datagram’s - Packets are sent individually and are guaranteed to be whole if they arrive. Packets have definite bounds and no split or merge into data streams may exist.

The jest of this type of delivery is as soon as a socket (port) is set the IP address is replaced buy the socket number – and the server ip and or router hop address. The messages are sent and received by means of an ARP table held inside a router these are known as HOPS – and the address of these hops are stored in the data gram header which is replaced by each router. If the delivery port is in the routers domain then the message is forwarded to the port – once complete the port is dissolved – The port is then assigned to the next data gram. As there are millions and millions of data grams used on the internet every hour there is a very small chance that the ports and address of the hops are recorded – This would require tons of hard drive space per day. As the routers remove the address and replaces them with the next router - and disposal of the old address as heat. Hope this adds to your understanding.

Nfusion

I have a VS SV and a CS. WILL the NFusion work the same way as the rest of these units. As far as loading with a cable. Is it worth it to buy one of these units when n3 comes in to play. Or are we going to be allright with our old units. Thanks for the GREAT work you guys and gals are doing.

All manufacturers expect to loose several models to N3 due to lack of processing power of earlier models. This is not gossip but from actual memo's issued to authorized dealers of their products. And also Viewsat is most definitly into proto-type of EKS models and D O N G L E S. A friend of mine who owns an FTA retail store personally showed the memo to me directly from Viewsat. Other manufacturers have sent similar info to retail dealer's of their products. N3 does not spell the end of all models but many will be left to pasture after all N2 streams are cut. Viewsats planned new models will both be EMU and Key sharing capable, fully loaded with all the bells and whistles at a much cheaper price per feature then most. All of these models will also be PVR ready. They will then turn their full attention back to N3 EMU fixes for their present higher end models. Expect this to be the norm for all other manufacturers of EMU only models to follow suit if not already. Let the games begin......
