Do a search for crossover cable and read the replies. I don't use it but it will help you. Start with this one PC to receiver connectivity

i think you have most of us lost , crossover cable or null cable should only be used when attempting a s/w upgrade via your pc ,..

from your router to the stb is nothing but a cat5 straight cable , nothing hard about it, if it dosn-t connect w/a normal cat5 cable reset things router, internet , back of your stb, the green and yellow lights which are rx and tx should be flashing , go to menu then internet and network info and check if dhcp is selected , then try , reset things again if needed

well guy i can explain how i have my unit set up , might help some but in the stbs menu i went to network infomation made certain DHCP is selected . . then the router should assign the ip. and the gateway address ,and the subnet after i recycle the power andthe pvr address , i just left along , not useing it right now.
if this is not happening post back what kind of router , for ex we at home use netgear , works great , i have my phoneix and sonvieww hub connected to this netgear router.. nerver gave us problems also take your laptop out the picture for now, just your modem and router and the stb , see what happens ,,, make sure proxy is turned off as well.

good luck

jack

If your internet provider is not static...(which most are not static) if you set your DHCP/STATIC setting to DHCP and reset both router/modem and box then your IP address should automatically fill in with the correct address and tv pic should come on. Wat sats are you trying to get?? also is your time settings correct?? make sure summer time is off. But post back if you have an IP address automatically filled in under MENU>INTERNET>NETWORK INFORMATION.. Also if you do not have PROXY set to off then do so......

Remember to hit the THANKS button if my post was helpfull (Or annoying...hehe)
