need help with IP settings

when I turn the receiver on it wont acquire the IP numbers, I have to reset router and receiver in order to acquire it.

despite been set to DHCP, it's doing this forever.

by the way I'm using a Motorola SB5100(hacked), router is a D-LINK DIR615 and is wired to the receiver not wireless.

please advise.

Ok first

try testing the Ethernet connection with a computer to see if you have internet connections.

After verifying that you have internet, plug in the box of your receiver.

Go to your computer and click on run and type (CMD.exe) and the common prompt with come up and them type ( ipconfig) There you will have your ip address and your mask subnet address also your gateway. you will need this information to inputted in your box. However you cannot use the same exact ip address list there let me give you an example. if your ip address looks like this (192.168.1.122) them you will go with the following, in order to work. Before anything go to your menu in your box and click on internet them network info and them to edit the info switch from DHCP to Static. go down and type (192.168.001 and them the next three numbers you can try the following -- 230 or 231 or 232 or 233. for your default gateway use the exact numbers that appear in the common prompt screen, after typing IPCONFIG. the subnet mask is always the same 255.255.255.0.

This is how my setup works , i hope this helped.

thank you for all your help.

I managed to enter the IP with a couple digits higher and set the receiver to STATIC as suggested and problem resolved.

It won't drop the configuration anymore.
