Radio Shack says NO!!

I went to radio shack to pick up the items that were posted for hooking up the Solaris. They were:1-Dynex PCI Adapter 10/100 mbps Fast Ethernet Model DX-E101. 2- Dynex 4 Port 10mpbs Hub. 3-Cat 6 Premium Network Cable. The guy working there said that these items will not work with dial-up. I would like to know if this is true? If so what would work for dial-up? Thanks to anyone who can answer those questions.

What about the Network Card? What about a Router? I keep getting conflicking answers and I cannot afford to buy what I don't need. I have the Cat5 cable but still not sure on the router or external modem. That is if I need anything else besides the Cat5 cable and if I need a Network Card?

I wish I had DSL. I get 24kbps when it is dry outside. If it is raining it goes down to 16.2kbps. The phone company says it is upgradeing to fiber optics but where I live it will may not be until Dec of this year. That is a big maybe. The closest big town is seven miles away. So the answer is no I do not get DSL. I guess the answer to one of my questions is that I will need a Router. What about the Network Card?

have you checked to see if there are any wireless providers in your area?i had to put up a 100' tv tower to get wireless, but it was worth it.i basically took down peoples unwanted towers til i had enough to get over the trees and now i get speeds up to 3gig.a bit extreme i would say but without it i would be in the same boat as you

I do not support or condone any signal piracy of any kind. Please ensure that you check your local federal laws in regards to satellite reception and its intended uses.
