Freetech court ruling
DN WIN FREETECH PIRACY CASE

DN, E*hoStar Technologies and conditional access provider N*graStar on Tuesday announced that the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California had ordered a $97 million consent judgment and permanent injunction against Freetech, the maker of a device used to pirate DN DBS signal.

The judgement, which came as the result of a lawsuit filed by DN and the other plaintiffs, also included $9 million in damages for three of Freetech's corporate officers/owners.

As a result, Freetech agreed to forfeit all of its liquid assets and inventory to DN and shut down operations immediately.

Lightbulb Freetech court ruling
That does not look good. Hopefully this won't hurt the N3 for the stand alone.

with all this leagal actions going on ......is it even worth ....worry'n about fta anymore.....is it worth the risk....?

I mean dont get me wrong....im not against FTA.....its just times getting scarry....

I think they are going after the big guys!!!! the companys that sell the stb......

your missing the whole point. FTA stands for FREE TO AIR. thats why we buy these boxes. we dont buy them to steal tv.

Free TECH was dead well before this suit started (or close to it) so it is not like they hit one of the current BIG boy's yet. I only see trouble for SV with their I *** and their 8spk board (which they foolishly releasd under their own name). But most of the other FTA giants are still in the clear because they have not yet, to date, made the grievous errors both Coolsat (Free Tech) and SV did...
