3 Things That May Cause USB Drives to Fail
Many are having issues with their USB memory sticks not loading the file onto the receiver, If you are confused about what brand USB to use/purchase, your answer is ALL USB STICKS will work.
If you are experiencing any problems with your USB drive, please read on.

1.) Jump Drive Software on USB Stick.
Most of the time you will get away with using any size USB Stick, however, what is causing many to have issues is the fact that the USB drivers are trying to load their manufacturer software onto the STB receiver. This happens with USB sticks that have the "Jump Drive" programs working from the stick. These programs work on your computer when the USB is plugged in and the program loads.
WE recommend a complete uninstall of the software from the USB stick as well as a FORMAT to make sure that the stick has nothing saved on it.

2.) Multiple Partitions on USB Stick.
Manufacturers like Sandisk have their 'U3' Software loaded on the USB stick by default, this takes up room and the problem being this is a separate partition that is formatted with CDFS (Same as a CD-ROM) Which allows the software to auto-run when the USB stick is inserted into a PC. Microsoft has disabled Auto-run from USB Devices to prevent USB Stick Viruses or Data Harvesters from running automatically, so this is why they have to use a CDFS Partition.
The problem is Windows will not allow you to format a CDFS Partition, as it thinks the partition is read-only (and thus safe to auto run)
If you visit the Sandisk website forum there is a thread about the U3 Uninstaller which will remove the CDFS partition from the Stick and allow you to use it with the STB.

3.) Incompatibility due to USB Stick Size.
Due to the Price Drop in USB sticks, most people are now carrying around 1GB+ USB ‘s, but the problem is the Programmers of the STB have not designed the auto-load software on all Receivers to look in memory locations so vast.
If this is the case, try going out and spending $5.00 on a 256MB USB stick to use strictly for BIN Updates
