I am a tech head at heart. I love a challenge almost more then the outcome, good or bad. The last big hobby I got into was building a cnc machine from scratch in my garage. Took a while but I go tit working like a charm. Thought a couple of times about giving up but I am just to stupid or bull headed, not sure which. It sure is a great feeling of accomplishment when it finally works out though.
Thanks for the support everyone, I know I will really need it before I am done.
I do have a question. I have a Birdog meter. Will I be able to use this to set up on my southern most sat when I try to find true south???
Thanks,
BigBee

it will come in handy, but not for finding true south. You will get a pointing website with your motor and it will tell you approx. where YOUR "magnetic" south is. This is a very important step to setting up on the arc. The motor will skew for you, so the only thing left is elevation at mag. south. Once you get your elevation set, which is easy if your pole is plumb (the biggie), all thats left to tweak is small amounts left and right to get your south dialed in, that is why if you start with you approx. mag. south, and then move the dish with the stb to a sat, you should only have to move it a little bit left and right, once that sat is peaked, the rest of the arc is right on. Youll see.

Well looks like head ache time is about to begin.
I just received the dish and assorted items. It was supposed to be a 39 inch dish but it measures 36 by 41. Not sure if that is good or bad. The mounting hardware is for a 36 inch dish, so I guess the guy wasn't totally honest. The packaging was garbage. Nothing looks to be broken but it was all just shoved into a box and loose.
I did get my sw21 switch that he (literally) threw in on the deal.
I am not too sure I would buy from this person again. It might be better to deal with the guy who is within driving distance from me.

I am to understand goldenarm that you too are going the true fta route? If so, then welcome aboard. And BB, that dish is a eliptical equivailant of a 39" dish. It has the same "reflective area" as a round. It has its + and its -, but it will do you fine. Hope to hear you get it up and running soon. BG

After reading through all the emails I sent this guy it appears that I misunderstood him. He did tell me it was an elliptical dish. I thought he said I could get either a 36 OR 39 inch dish. Didn't notice that he actually said 36X39. My mistake.

Looks like this guy sent me a clone LNB. It was supposed to be an Inviacom LNB but it is really a Monster. I have been reading reviews and they say they are comparable but the Inviacom is a better one to have.
Not starting out too good here. The guy has good feedback but I am starting to wonder what I might have done here. I don't want to start off on the wrong foot.
Should I try it or buy the better LNB???
