Help setting up Sub box with FTA boxes

Hello All,

I have a sub box that I am trying to hookup along with two Viewsat FTA boxes. I had recently bought an EMP Centauri 9x8 switch for the two FTA boxes. The new 9x8 switch isn't hooked up yet and I will be pointing at Nimiq 82, 91 and ******** 110, 119. The original setup without the sub would have been to run everything through the EMP switch. With the addition of the sub box, I have absolutely no clue on how to proceed.

The only signal that I need for the sub box is Nimiq 91 but the EMP 9x8 switch requires 2 feeds (one horizontal , one vertical) per LNB. So my question is this. Is it possible for me to add a sub box to my setup while still using the EMP 9x8 switch? I know the EMP switch is only supposed to work with FTA boxes but is there another piece of equipment that I can add to this setup that would allow me to add my sub box?

Thanks.

For starters, you do know that your VS boxes will not work for either provider as there is no fix for any cardless fta box at the moment and it could be months to years. That being said, your sub box will not work right with that switch, not saying it won't work but it will be a pain in the butt. If you have two dishes, one for 110/119 and the other for 91/82 then you could simply use a DP44 switch with power inserter. That switch will work flawlessly with both FTA and SAT PROVIDER. Just make sure that all lnb's are DP (dish pro) and your good to go. If this is not how you want to hook it up, then you will need to provide us with as much info about your lnb's and dishes and type of provider box you can. BG

Thanks for the reply. Yes I do know that my VS boxes will not work, I am just trying to setup properly for later on. I really was hoping to be able to use the EMP 9x8 switch in the setup if that is at all possible.

My current setup is a 18x24 elleptical dish with three LNBs (91,110,119). I am not sure what make the LNBs are as they came as a package with the dish. I am pretty sure they are a cheap brand. I have two cables coming from each LNB and from there three cables (91,110,119) go into some sort of cheap converter ( also came with the package) that accepts three inputs and as one output. The other three cables (also 91,110,119) gointo another of these converters. Each of these converters feeds an FTA box.

The two reasons I bought the EMP 9x8 switch was first because I am planning on adding at least a third FTA receiver in the future and the other reason was because we were having freezing issues on 110 and 119 when one of the FTA boxes was watching certain channels and the other FTA box would be switching to different channels. From what I had read, the channel freezing issues was most probably due to those cheap converters.

The plan for my new setup is to use two 20 or 24 inch round dishes, one for
(91,82) and the other for (110,119). From there, I would have 2 cables per LNB, 8 total cables going into the EMP switch. Due to NAGRA3, we now have a sub box that we plan on keeping even after FTA gets going again. Hence my issue. This sub box only needs the Nimiq 91 feed so is it at possible to do it with the EMP switch or am I "SOL" using the EMP switch?

Thanks.
