Question direcpc dish any good?

I've been searching on the net for information about if a direcpc dish and lnb can be used for finding true fta feeds , so far ive found both ways some say it can be some say its just a huge paperweight , the dish itself is roughly 30" oval shaped has one lnb that has one input can this be used for anything other than the actual direcpc service?

Many thanks in advance!!!

I did a little looking and they say it can be used for true FTA. I found it in several posts. It would be worth a try if you have the time to mess with it.
Good luck,

DO NOT try to use the "lnb" on it. That is known as a "tria", not lnb. You will need to pick up a linear ku band lnbf to view true fta on it. You have to get alittle creative with the mount for the lnbf, but this is not too tough. The biggest thing is to find the angle that the tria is pointed at the dish face, this angle must be recreated with the new lnbf. Hope this helps you friend. BG

is that lnb good for any thing other than receiving data?

I do not support or condone any signal piracy of any kind. Please ensure that you check your local federal laws in regards to satellite reception and its intended uses.

not really. It is an lnb that can send and receive. Because of this it is quite weak at receiving. Some of those old hughsnet dishes are pretty big and do work well for fta. Let us know if you try it.
