If you are interested in a pvr that can record whole seasons or just reruns, or 1st runs. Maybe you just want to be able to search for a show or keyword and record it in HD or SD? If you have ANY fta stb and want to record shows as if you had tivo but WITHOUT MONTHLY FEES!, Than heres the solution. I have been using this for a while now and I love it more everyday, its called sagetv. There is a few brands of this software on the market such as mythtv or beyondtv but sagetv has been my favorite as of yet. All you need is a pc with internet connection and a tv-tuner card (I use a hauppauge 1600) but most cards with hardware encoding will work ok. The hauppauge 1600 come with a IR blaster to control your STB and a remote that controls your pc in many ways.

The software gives you a flawless EPG (unlike many fta epg's) and gives you a ton of ways to record stuff and it records it to mpeg-2 or 4 format so it is easy to burn a dvd. The remote lets you instantly press "music" and browse your library, or "pictures" or "live tv". The features are far to many to list.

If you are PC savvy and would like to convert your PC or an older PC to a MEDIA SERVER and the best darn DVR you have ever had without any monthly fee,s....this is your answer!

If you have any questions you can google a search for sagetv or I can tell you what hardware you need and what your PC requirements you need.

The card I have has an input for my STB, and another one for my DTV OTA antenna, and yet another one for cable if you have it, and it can record from all three at the same time.

I hope this helps some of my fellow members who would like to get more out of their FTA recordings than just a glorified vcr.

Having plenty of time on my hands at present I was wondering if I could get some answers to some questions. Is the reflector on a dn superdish large enough to pick up say 123west and is the 105 lnb on these dishes a true linier lmb? I've had some tell me yes and some tell me no. Never ask on here before though. I got about 6 of these things. 1 I converted so I could use dish pro 110/119 500 lmb on. It really helps with fade out during a storm. Thanks in advance for any help, I was just looking for things to do to keep my skills up during this down time.

-Hey all,

I really enjoyed my vacation; but it is always nice to come back home:D

I have learned alot while on vacation, and it is all good. The administrators here are doing their JOB; and are doing a good if not fantastic JOB in my opinion. They have given me time and time again chances to stop the bullchit, and given me second and third chances to remain a member here. I would have banned myself months ago if I were in their shoes. I have taken pay cuts, voluntary (SP) demotions and more, because I did not want to be the one to drop the hammer; do you think they have an easy JOB - NO! These guys are human beings and have to do what they have to do to keep an website in control.

This site should not be a us vs them (management); it should be a "lets all work together for the good of us all"! I have met wonderfull people here, and I want to continue to be a member for a long , long time.

I am not kissing ass, it does not do any good anyway, look at DDD; that is sad; maybe the ads will consider allowing him back. We can only hope, but you know what that is their decision - not ours as members. Please do not send me any BS responses about kissing ass; I will not respond.

I hope the ads will give us back some of our toys like PM'S. that was not what this message was about; you all know that.:p Oh I almost forgot my avatar! When you have time.

Microsoft Host Tracker Technology May End I K S
Not sure if this has been posted before but an interesting read:

c/p

Microsoft will unveil its new host tracker platform officially at SIGCOMM 2009 in Barcelona, Spain. The software can find Host servers regardless of how often the IP address changes with an accuracy of 1%.

There has been several reports that this system has been used under a test agreement with "Charlie". In a defense effort against I K S. The goal is to find I K S servers & simply shut them down. If I K S systems have no server their encryption is secure. No Server no I K S.

Coincidentally you probably have noticed reports of server issues with many I K S systems..... Hmmmm!

You may also note , that suggestions of an *** hack and an N3 Hack originated in Barcelona Spain. Look were this new platform is being released at. You guessed it Barcelona Spain.

Here are a few excepts from the proposed release.

In a paper to be presented next week at SIGCOMM 2009 in Barcelona, Spain, three researchers from Microsoft's research center in Mountain View, CA,demonstrate a way to remove the shield of anonymity from such shadowy attackers. Using a new software tool, the three computer scientists were able to identify the machines responsible for malicious activity, even when the host's IP address changed frequently.

Host Tracker resolves the conflicts by cross referencing the data to identify proxy servers, which allow several hosts to appear as a single IP address, and to determine when a guest was using a legitimate host. "The fact that we are able to trace malicious traffic to the proxy itself is an improvement because we are able to pinpoint the exact origin," Xie says.

The researchers also created a way to automatically blacklist traffic from a particular IP address, once the Host Tracker system has determined that the host at that address is compromised.

Using this method in simulation, the researchers were able to block malicious traffic with an error rate of five percent--in other words, 5 out of 100 IP addresses classified as malicious were actually legitimate. Using additional information to identify good user behavior reduced that false-positive rate to less than one percent.

"We want to separate the two notions. The accountability that we are talking about is the ability to identify the hosts."

So it may forebode problems for the future of I K S.

end c/p

c/p
Here is the article that the original poster was referencing:

Microsoft Team Traces Malicious Users

Three researchers find a way to trace compromised machines used to attack other computers.

Anonymity on the Internet can be both a blessing and a curse. While the ability to hide behind anonymous proxies and fast-changing Internet protocol (IP) addresses has enabled freer speech in nations with repressive regimes, the same technologies allow cyber-criminals to hide their tracks and pass off malicious code and spam for legitimate communications.

In a paper to be presented next week at SIGCOMM 2009 in Barcelona, Spain, three researchers from Microsoft's research center in Mountain View, CA, demonstrate a way to remove the shield of anonymity from such shadowy attackers. Using a new software tool, the three computer scientists were able to identify the machines responsible for malicious activity, even when the host's IP address changed frequently.

"What we are really trying to get at is the host responsible for an attack," said Yinglian Xie, a member of the Microsoft team. "We are not trying to track those identifiers but associate them with a particular host."

The prototype system, dubbed HostTracker, could result in better defenses against online attacks and spam campaigns. Security firms could, for example, build a better picture of which Internet hosts should be blocked from sending traffic to their clients, and cybercriminals would have a harder time camouflaging their activities as legitimate traffic.

Xie and her colleagues, Fang Yu and Martin Abadi, analyzed a month's worth of data--330 gigabytes--collected from a large e-mail service provider, in an attempt to determine which users were responsible for sending out spam. To trace the origins of multiple spam outbreaks, the scientists studied records including more than 550 million user IDs, 220 million IP addresses, and a time stamp for events such as sending a message or logging into an account.

Tracing the origins of messages--a key task for tracking spam and other kinds of Internet attack--involved reconstructing relationships between account IDs and the hosts from which users connected to the e-mail service. To do this, the researchers clumped together all the IDs accessed from different hosts over a certain time period. The HostTracker software then combed through this data to resolve any conflicts. For example, sometimes more than one user appeared to originate from the same IP address or a single user had multiple ID addresses during overlapping periods of time.

HostTracker resolves the conflicts by cross referencing the data to identify proxy servers, which allow several hosts to appear as a single IP address, and to determine when a guest was using a legitimate host. "The fact that we are able to trace malicious traffic to the proxy itself is an improvement because we are able to pinpoint the exact origin," Xie says.

The researchers also created a way to automatically blacklist traffic from a particular IP address, once the HostTracker system has determined that the host at that address is compromised. Using this method in simulation, the researchers were able to block malicious traffic with an error rate of five percent--in other words, 5 out of 100 IP addresses classified as malicious were actually legitimate. Using additional information to identify good user behavior reduced that false-positive rate to less than one percent.

The results suggest that HostTracker would be a good way to refine the current way of defending against distributed denial-of-service attacks and spam campaigns, says Gunter Ollmann, vice president of research and development at Damballa, a firm that helps companies find and eliminate compromised hosts in a computer network.

"Using this technique will help find botnets that have a high frequency of traffic, such as spam campaigns, DDoS attacks, and maybe click-through attacks," Ollmann says. "Other attacks, such as password-stealing and banking Trojans, where the attack is more host-centric--this sort of technique would not be as effective."

Xie acknowledges that while the technique is useful for creating lists of hosts to track, it may be less useful for law enforcement agencies attempting to identify the attackers behind online crime. "The accountability we are talking about is not court accountability," she says. "We want to separate the two notions. The accountability that we are talking about is the ability to identify the hosts." c/p

Alright guys... here's the deal..

I know CypHRIS - (Chris, get it now) and I tell you that is not him posting this bullchit. It reminds me of thefaketdg. If it were Cyphris he would tell you..

Viewsat, and for the matter.. NOsat is any closer to hacking N3 than they were 3 months ago. All their hope was riding on Fred Raud who (supposedly) had thousands of pictures of the die (taken with that scope) and Trinity (who is now busted) who was gonna help put it all together, and send it to Korea for the finishing touches... see the way it works is.. you have your coders.. who actually do the hard work, who then pass the information on to the "team's" like Sonicview, Captiveworks etc..once those guys do what they have to do in regards to making that information work with receiver specific hardware, it then gets passed on to someone who actually has the source code to add in there, encrypt the bin, and pass it back to someone who distributes it to the masses. This is usually the process your beloved bin takes before it gets to FTA sites etc. Thats why it was always like.. "It's coming.. few hours... few more hours...because someone wasn't passing it along in a timely manner. Ok, now that we got this out of the way.. this brings us to today..

N3 is a beast and manufacturers like Nfusion knew that which is why they chose *** off the bat. Kbox.. same thing... All hope was riding on these a$$holes like David Fuss & Fred Raud who turned out to be rats and informants. Then Trinity got busted and sadness enveloped the community. I'm not certain who Trinity is but word had it that he or she was sharing information between CW, SV, & VS. So now that Trin is out of the picture, these guys are left to fend for themselves.

Some FTA sites (you know who they are) are stooping to new lows in an effort to keep their numbers up and their ad revenue. They are intentionally posting bullchit in an effort to jump start the community. I personally have been approached by a few people suggesting I create fake nicks here and post bullchit.. which I kindly turned down. I will not insult the fine members here by testing their intelligence. We have all been arond that barrel more than once and I'd like to keep this a place where you can get away from all that. Thats the main reason we rely on donations and our google ad revenue.. because the FTA dealers and manufacturers wanted us to "sell out" in order to jump onboard and we turned them down. We will not post whatever they want us to post, and we will not try to convince you to buy a receiver that we ourselves would not buy! Yes, I have been a mod, or supermod at some sites and I know the inner workings and what conversations really take place between staff members in private and most of it is a continual effort to deceive the masses to "keep them here". Thats why I joined the ranks of FTAxxxx and vowed to make it different.. no matter what revenue we may sacrifice in doing so. In turn, I realized that all you guys want is the truth and the donations continued to trickle in. So thats the way we keep it! Sucka Free!

Now for the truth that many of you contribute for monthly to hear on this site.. we thank those of you who have made it possible these last 2 years..

The truth is.. N3 is hacked, the cards are compromised and the information is being kept a closely guarded secret by the folks who are bringing you devices such as the "Slinger" by Mili and crew. They see this as their time to shine and make the money that FTA deprived them of. There is already evidence of "dealerware" and cards being programed in small circles. The people who have the information are actually too scared to sell it to anyone for fear of ending up in court next to Kwak. So the next suggestion is to "Just give it away", to which the reply is always.. "HELL NO". There is also word of a rom206 partial dump floating around which may or may not assist in a card hack or at the least, aid in opening more *** channels and keeping them open.

The main players or "Hero's" of last generation who contributed to the success of FTA are now in hiding and are leaving it all up to the new guys who are grasping at straws and trying to figure out how to keep their *** setups from freezing every 10 seconds. Someone once said that "The future of testing will be ***" and now I know they were onto something. If you hear bull**** rumors of a possible fix being released by an FTA brand.. you can automatically call bull**** if it hasnt been tested on a Triple Dragon, Dreambox, or PC Emulator card first. "Unless!" It gets leaked straight to an FTA coder by a disgruntled plastic hacker, or someone who trusts the other person enough to make a deal. FTA manufacturers are no longer making money off of sales so they no longer have the money to pay for any research. It's all being done in house now with limited resources.

Viewsat has laid off more than half of their employees and is now looking to *** for the foreseeable future. Yes, you heard me right.. ***. Regardless of what hq says... it's reality. I challenge anyone else to come in here and tell me otherwise. (I'm waiting...) Sonicview is in the *** game but their **** really sucks right now and you cannot watch a descent program without having to toggle channels back and forth every time it freezes. That may have something to do with Microsoft's new Host Tracker software.. allowing chuck to play games.. or it could be simply that the people running the servers don't know what the hell they're doing. Nfusion seems to be running smooth but they don't have the big fights like Sonicview does. For now... you should either subscribe.. or attempt to embrace *** while we wait for the information for a "True Standalone" fix to be leaked. You all saw the pictures of the rumored VS receiver with an ethernet port.. that was a real pic.

The bullchit release date we all had hopes for was nothing more than a ploy to sell receivers. I didnt find out till the very same day it was supposed to be released that it was in fact bullchit. The reason for that was I am thinking I cannot really trust my sources anymore either due to the fact that they know I speak the truth and people respect me for that, so they want to feed me bull**** to pass it on to you, so you accept it as truth.. thats why it takes me a bit longer now to separate fact from fiction.

Like Ive said before.. the game is not over and N3 is not as secure as the providers had hoped so we will continue to be here and provide you with "truthful" information even if it means scaring some of you away. If this site fails due to lack of donations and we have to close the doors, at least we will know we went out with respect!

Wilmero
end c/p

I read a post just the other day that read channels were still up from 6000-9000. Not all of them just some of them. It was posted for the VS Ultra (I believe it was). I don't know if anyone else knew about those channels or not. I don't get anything so those channels are far better then nothing. I still get them on my VSUL. So for those of us who had nothing to watch try it. Not all the 6000-9000 channels are working so you have to go through them one at a time. Non of the PPV ones work just the ones with the commericals. Again better then nothing. Also channel 216 works with the 213(NASA).:D:D

Hi,maybe somebody can help me fix that or know whats wrong.
I have the Quad Polar LNBF with a SG2100 Motor with SV360 Elite with 33" dish.
I fix the sat to the motor,i think taht is perfected monted and best orientation, because that:
The motor will move all around and i can get all the sat with circular (C on quad polar lnb) and with that the dish move and get all the sat that use circular, This is the numbers i get:
61.5= S-58
Q-99
82---- S-58
Q-48
91---- S-59
Q-99
110-- -S-60
Q-98
119--- S-59
Q-89
With the L on Quad Polar LNBF ,i can't get any sat. I want to try all galaxy's sattelite but gont get any.
Can somebody know whats wrong?what i have to do?
or is the Quad Polar LNBF that dont works good on the L.
Or do I have to buy another diferent LNB.
Thanks for now,and i will apreciate any information that help.

Help setting up Sub box with FTA boxes

Hello All,

I have a **** sub box that I am trying to hookup along with two Viewsat FTA boxes. I had recently bought an EMP Centauri 9x8 switch for the two FTA boxes. The new 9x8 switch isn't hooked up yet and I will be pointing at Nimiq 82, 91 and ******** 110, 119. The original setup without the sub would have been to run everything through the EMP switch. With the addition of the sub box, I have absolutely no clue on how to proceed.

The only signal that I need for the sub box is Nimiq 91 but the EMP 9x8 switch requires 2 feeds (one horizontal , one vertical) per LNB. So my question is this. Is it possible for me to add a sub box to my setup while still using the EMP 9x8 switch? I know the EMP switch is only supposed to work with FTA boxes but is there another piece of equipment that I can add to this setup that would allow me to add my sub box?

Thanks.
