FTA Fixes getting ready to rumble!!!!

Well People, It was almost 3 yrs ago to the day, when we were faced with the looming N2 crisis, but that didn't last long. Things have come full circle again, and providers have completed yet another card swap in an effort to tighten security. Apparently they didn't spend enough money on R&D to properly secure their signals though, as IKS solutions have been working before and since the switch to N3.

We all know the dangers of this & far too much money was being lost by FTA manufacturers to go this route. Rumors are rampant that CNX, Viewsat & others will be releasing cardless solutions yet again. Though unsubstantiated as of now, some very reliable sources are reporting with utmost certainty that these solutions will be coming to the internet shortly (a few days to 2 weeks). It has been reported that all models will be able to handle the bin but I'm guessing that maybe the VS Platinum will be left behind. Reason being, the early model Viewsat Platinum receivers had a jtag pad on the bottom of the unit thus allowing anyone to come along and rip the processed (loaded and allocated to it's area) bin back out of the receiver. So, if VS comes out with the fix first, it's obvious that their competitors will jtag the bin out of the receiver in it's processed and no longer encrypted form and reverse engineer it such as they did with the map57 bin. So, in short, VS shot themselves in the foot by including a jtag pad at one time so if they make a bin for that reciever, it's secrets are not safe for very long. On the other hand, once everyone gets ahold of the code and files once again flood the net, the platinum's problem becomes mute. So, it's not that it wont be able to handle it..it's .. if they encrypt the bin such as CNX claims to be doing, their efforts will be futile with the Platinum model so they are sometimes slow on porting files to that particular receiver.

The Europeans were first to break the new encryption system, but N.A. is following suit, and you should all be watching tv very soon. Relax, don't worry & stay tuned.

That would really suck
If the vs plat is left out of the first fix, that would really be a slap in the face to all of us who bought one don't you think. I guess it goes back to the money issue.

well money does make the world go round....it also pays the coders, I'm sure as soon as someone else gets the fix for n3 they will support the platinum again.

What about the money spent by everyone who bought the I-Hub Nfusion etc? It seems that it comes to the luck of the draw. Some win and some loose. It sucks but thats life.

I kept my Ultra so when things get going I should be covered
There is even some really good deals out there with all the people that have seemed to give up on the hobby. Bad for them but good for others.

I kept my Platinum and Extreme. I am not sure if I will be able to use them or not. I will find out, like everyone else, when the new files come out.

I am using a Nfusion Solaris now. I am thinking about purchasing a SV 360 Elite or Premium with the I-hub.... From all I have read about the SV they are good receivers and SV stands behind their products.

I want to pick up an HD unit. Either a MaxHD or a 9000HD
Not sure yet. Something that will record so I will be ready for N4 whenever it comes around
