First you will need a few things.

This file....D o n g l e update software
An adapter to connect a NULL MODEM cable to the d o n g l e (you can't do anything without this)
An internet connection via CAT5 cable (this can be wireless, connected directly to your router, or via Powerline adapters)
The latest .ird file loaded to your receiver

1) Download the UPDATE.rar file and unzip it. You should get a file titled UPDATE. Open that file and you will get four items. An UPDATE application, a text document, and application extension and a binary file.

2) Connect the d o n g l e to your computer via the null modem cable and the adapter. Connect the power supply cord to the d o n g l e and plug it in. Lights should flash on and back off on the bottom to let you know you have power.

3) Click on the UPDATE application that you got from the file in step 1. Leave it on COMPORT1. You should see numbers count up on the left side of the UPDATE module. It should say DONE when it is complete. However, one of mine said done, the other didn't.
Also I tried to do this with my laptop and a USB to serial converter cable and it would not go through. I had to use a computer with a serial port.

4) Now, go to your receiver and press menu>installation>option and set the autoroll for Echo* and B3v to OFF and exit back out to where you see a picture.

5) Press 8282 and clear the DN and B3v keys to "0". You can do this quickly by hitting yellow button when in key selection will zero all keys on that page.

6) Turn the receiver off with the switch in back. Connect the d o n g l e to the serial port on the receiver, connect the CAT 5 cable to the d o n g l e and the internet source and connect the power supply cable to the d o n g l e and plug it into a wall outlet.

7) Turn the receiver back on with the switch in back. Wait a few seconds and you should get a picture. You can go in and check the keys by pressing 8282 to be sure it is operating via ***. All of the keys should be "0" for whichever provider you are watching.


To go back to using the file method of viewing I have found that I have to remove the d o n g l e from the serial port. Then press menu>installation>options and set the autoroll for Echo* and B3v to ON. Wait a few minutes for the keys to roll and you should be back to viewing with the file that is loaded to the receiver. Sometimes a reboot with the switch in back is required.

To return to using the d o n g l e all you will need to do is turn the autoroll functions back off, clear the keys to "0", connect the d o n g l e to the serial port and turn the receiver off and back on with the power button on the remote.

This is for using *** on BOTH DN and B3v.

You can also use *** for only one provider. To do this, turn the autoroll off and clear the keys for the one you want via ***. Do not bother the settings for the other provider.
