have problems ....here some answers

Got Some CS 8000HD Problems? Some Answers Here.

Having seen some of the same questions about the CS 8000 going round and round, I thought that I would put many of the solutions in one place. However, I recommend that forum readers check to see if someone else has posted a problem similar to yours. Read, read and read again.

I am also assuming that all the satellite configuration and scanning has been done and am just concerned with some operational problems you might encounter. The bins for the CS 8000HD still have many bugs, but are much better than the first ones.

On Screen Captions

Service is Not Available Now

This is a bug. The CS 8000 has been asked to select another satellite and has become confused. It has not implemented the motor move and/or DiSEqC change required. The simple fix is to push the CH+ or CH- a couple of times at about one second intervals. The Quality bar should increase and the channels received.

A second reason for this caption is that the keys have changed and the CS 8000 hasn't realised this. Change channels a few times and the caption should change to the one below.

Stand By... Downloading!

The keys have changed and the CS 8000 is looking for the new keys in the stream. It may take a few minutes, but the keys are usually rolled successfully. Also see Enhanced Keys below.

No Signal

No signal is being received. If on a motorised dish, and satellite change the dish has not reached the new position. If Service is Not Available Now appears, follow instructions above. If your CS 8000 was working correctly earlier, could be cable, dish, DiSEqC or LNB problems. With motorised dishes, not correctly pointing at the satellite.

End of On Screen Caption Info.

Enhanced Keys. 0804/0904, 0805/0905, 0806/0906.

These are additional provider IDs on *** for certain channels. 0804/0904 is for special event sports PPV; 0805/0905 is for just three porn channels - Playboy and two AOV channels; 0806/0906 is for the HD channels and so is important for reception of HD from ***.

I am not sure if the enhanced keys auto roll. The keys can be entered manually by pushing Menu, then select Advance Menu with the right navigator button. Entering 1234 on the remote and the key area appears - then select NagraVision. If you have loaded the soft cam as mentioned earlier, the enhanced key slots will be in the table. Page Down on the remote brings you to page 2 with the 0805 and 0806 slots. (Some sites list as 0805 and others 0905. In the CS 8000 the keys are entered as 0805 and 0806). Look in the How To Do forum for more detail about manual key entry.

If you don't want to manually load keys, load from your PC and use the latest soft cam for the CS 8000 which will appear in the Key & Chat forum. If not all HD channels are being received, *** could be up to their key switching routines. Make sure you find and load the very latest. Use KeyUpdate from the Key & Chat forum to find the latest keys.

Video Output Modes.

The CS 8000 has 4 different video outputs. The composite and S-Video outputs only produce 480i mode, which can be used to record on an HDD recorder or used on a standard TV. These outputs are not HD.

The component and HDMI outputs can be configured for 480i, 720p or 1080i. Selection is made by pushing the FUNC button on the remote. The first push will display the present configuration on the CS 8000 display and the second push within a second will change video output modes to the next one. For an HDTV, the best quality should be with the HDMI output set to 1080i with component coming a close second. You may need to refer to you TV set-up for the best results. HDMI also carries the sound, so extra audio hook ups are not required.

Using a Motorised Dish.

I believe that there is a bug in the present bin which doesn't save the dish set-up configuration correctly when using a USALS motor and DiSEqC switch. Whilst I can watch *** and DN, I have not been able to receive any linear polarised satellites. If you want to use a USALS motor and DiSEqC switch I suggest waiting for a later bin which hopefully will clear up this bug.

There is also a significant difference in the sound level between standard and HDTV channels with HDTV being quieter. Hopefully something can be done to correct this on a later bin.

Note that the CS 8000 cannot receive HD from DN, only from *** on 82, but there are over 40 HD channels available including East and West coast major US networks.

Above, I have listed many of the common problems with the CS 8000 to try to help out.

805/905 also unlocks national hd channels & some others also, besides the aov/playboy 3 channels

Is everyone happy with their cs 8000 hd receive? Does it go down a lot? And do you get a lot of HD channels? Also will it work with a DN sat.
