Newbie in need of help!

I have a new Sonicview 360 Premiere reciever. A dish 500 dish with a new sonicview dual LNB (.3 db; Anik F3 118.7&119)-info off the box. It came with a USB stick.
How do I get up and running? I keep reading things about having a computer connected to the reciever, but my laptop doesn't have a connection that matches the cable that came with the reciever.
And if I connect a computer, then what's the USB stick for?
Thanks for any help.

Ok, I do have a cat 5 cable right beside it, but...I would need to interface this double female ended serial cable to the cat 5 cable?

I just purchased this "******" that connects eithernet to the rs-232 serial port on the reciever...I take it that's what I need.

go to reciever support for your type of reciever and model and ask your questions and you will get a lot or members willing to help you. In the beginners start here you wont get many answers to your brand of reciever
