This is just a recommendation. I would get the powerline adapters working
first accoring to manuals. I would connect a pc on other end of powerline adapters to make sure that you have a valid internet connection. You can check it easly by browsing the web. Only after that, I would try connecting stb and configuring it.

Good point GSK..... I was also going to recommend connecting the box direct with a cat5 cable at first to help eliminate alot of possibilities with a first timer setup. As you know just what outlet you plug the PL's in can cause an issue....

Remember to hit the THANKS button if my post was helpfull (Or annoying...hehe)

That is so true. Do you think he should try connecting it directly to router, so everything in between is isolated? I hope he has that capability.

It should work that way.... if like you say he has a router/modem. Just incase he got the PL's just to eliminate the wire. It makes things so much easier at first (for a first time Nfusion setup) to know that all your settings are correct and you have connection and pic before entering PL terittory unless you have a good working knowledge of them.......

or we could be going in circles if we have issues. But if he has skill in setting up say a Viewsat from start to finish then setting up the Nfusion is almost the same i find.

How about reading this thread completely to start with, and then ask question if something does not make sense. These instructions applies to your box also.

IP Address

It's better to set a static IP address after you have done the initial setup, but i highly recommend setting a static IP on the unit to avoid your router setting a different IP address; which is what happens when you power cycle the unit. To verify your local host IP address on your PC or laptop, go to start; type cmd in the run box and hit enter. Type Ipconfig /all; which will bring up your pc/notebook LAN/WLAN IP info. You should see the IP address of your PC/notebook along with the subnet mask and default gateway info. Depending on how many devices you have on your home network such as PDAs, gaming consoles, media players and so forth; set the IP high in range. In other words, if your last device has an IP ie, 192.xxx.xxx.10, set the NFusion to 192.xxx.xxx.20. Notice 20 not 11, as this way even though you may never have 20 devices, setting the IP higher in the IP range will ensure that you don't have any IP conflicts. Most routers DHCP table is in the range of 100-199; you may need to verify your's depending on the manufacturer.

The other way to verify is to simpy make note of the IP info under the NFusion network settings and simply set the IP there, but leaving the subnet info and default gateway info.

If there are issues with logging into the unit through your browser, go to start run; type in cmd and at the command prompt, type ping <the nfusion ip address> and hit enter. You should get 4 packet (icmp) request with 4 replys in return. You should notice the ping statistics which should say 4 sent 4 received <0%> lost. If you get anything else like 4 sent 1 received <75%> lost or <100%>, come back to N2news for more info as someone like myself or some of these fantastic guys and gals will help.

I will leave it upto others to judge my earlier comments. Only thing I can say is that if you discribe problem in detail in your post, may be somebody could help.
